National League sides to face Army teams
The National League and The British Army are pleased to jointly announce that they will field three representative sides to play each other simultaneously on Wednesday 29th March with the matches being staged at Harrogate Town, Tamworth and Eastbourne Borough respectively.
All three matches will be supported in partnership by Vanarama and S&C Slatter Ltd.
Turnbull to leave Blyth Spartans
Evo-Stik Northern Premier League leaders Blyth Spartans have announced that influential midfielder Stephen Turnbull is to leave the club.
The former Hartlepool United midfielder is in his fourth spell with the Northumberland club, but that will come to an end as he takes up a position as an officer on a cruise ship.
South Shields management duo target Vase and League success
Ahead of their FA Vase trip to Team Solent, NLD Editor Mark Carruthers had a chance with South Shields management team Graham Fenton(GF) and Lee Picton(LP) at their Mariners Park home.

The Stan Army’s post mortem into the 95th minute defeat at Team North in our last game concluded that it was the strength of the respective bench’s which was the difference between the 2 teams. The Stan had brought on Johnson, who lasted 5 minutes, and 2 promising 17 year olds whilst the students bench was full of experience. On Saturday, the Stan bench was equally experienced and was key to turning a drab draw into 3 valuable points. The pre-match buzz was all about the return of goal scoring Jonathan Wright from Bishop Auckland and Jordan Ray from long term injury and loan at Walker Central. There were 4 changes in total from Team North with Robinson and Deagle returning from injury, replacing Yates and Jones, and Errington and Riley moving to Blyth Town. (more…)
Skipper Moore takes over as Shildon manager
EBAC Northern League champions Shildon AFC have confirmed that their Management Team have resigned.
Chairman David Dent stated “Whilst the circumstances could have been better Gary (Forrest) and Stuart (Niven) have made an enormous contribution to Shildon AFC over the last few years and we wish them every success in the future”

I have been meaning to do a trip to this ground for a long time now. This is because the ground at Hallam has been recognised as the oldest ground in the World by the Guinness book of records. Hallam are also the second oldest club in the World after another club from the area. No, not Wednesday or United but Sheffield FC who actually play in Derbyshire. (more…)
Moors launch girls academy courses
The successful youth academy at Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Spennymoor Town has launched its first ever training programme exclusively for girls.
Developed from scratch over the last three years by the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division club, coaches at the academy are hoping to create their first girls side within the next two months.
The academy, which already has 20 teams playing in age groups from U7s to Under 18s, is set to continue its growth following the surge in the popularity of the women’s game and increasing numbers of calls from the community for them to act.
Kicking off on Wednesday 25 January at the Spennymoor Leisure Centre, the sessions will be free for at least the first two months and the Moors say their DBS-checked staff are keen to see as many girls as possible from all age groups from four upwards attending. (more…)
