Moors release ten players
Spennymoor Town Manager Jason Ainsley has today given us details of the players being released by the club. The players leaving the club are as follows:
Anthony Peacock – Released (End of Contract)
James Risbrough – Contract Cancelled by Mutual consent
John McReady – Released (End of Contract)
Lee Moore – Released
Liam Henderson – Released (End of Contract)
Mark Bell – Contract Cancelled by Mutual consent
Paul Johnson – Released (End of Contract)
Priestley Keithley – Released
Reece Kenney – Contract Cancelled by Mutual consent
Stephen Capper – Released (End of Contract)
Moors boss Ainsley didn’t want the departure of some of the players to pass without comment so he gave me some of his thoughts on the matter.
Stephen Capper – “Unfortunately due to work and personal commitments Stephen will be leaving us with immediate effect. He has been instrumental in the success of Spennymoor Town FC during his 7 seasons with us.
Not only has he been an outstanding and consistent player year in year out but he is an absolute top lad to go with that. Stephen is comfortable with either foot and has the brains and know how to play anywhere on the pitch but it is at left back (or should I say wing) that he shines.
On behalf of the management team I cannot thank Stephen enough for his spell with us and wish him well in his chosen destination. He will go down as a true legend at this club”
Anthony Peacock – “I am gutted to see Anthony leave but due to work commitments, which have been a major factor in his lack of appearances the latter part of this season, we have agreed to let him go by mutual consent. Anthony has been with me for over 8 seasons and has been an absolute pleasure to manage over those years. He has been pivotal into how I like to play the game and his ability and technique is second to none.
The relationship he developed with Stephen Capper on the left was as good as anything in nonleague during the past 7 years and at times the football he produced was frightening. Anthony is another one who is a true Spennymoor legend and he can take massive pride in what he has achieved at the club. He will be welcome back at any time and we wish him all the very best”
Liam Henderson – “Due to work commitments it is with deep regret that we are parting company with Liam. Liam has been an ever present in the team during the 3 years he has been with us and has played a massive part in in our success. In his 1st season with us Liam was unplayable at times and was a major factor in our promotion to the Evo-Stik league. I would like to wish Liam all the very best in his new venture and I’m sure he will be a success”
Paul Johnson – “Due to work commitments we have agreed by mutual consent to let Paul leave the club. Paul has been a true professional since he arrived at the club and put in some heroic performances in his 2 years with us.
He has had to be patient at times with the form of Chris Mason and Joe Tait but every time he has been asked to play he has given 100% and will be a massive loss not only on the field but in the dressing room as well. Wherever Paul ends up playing they will have a superb player, who is commanding in the air and also a winner.
I wish Paul all the very best in the future and thank him for helping us achieve our promotion”
Chairman Brad Groves added “I would like to thank all of the players who are leaving us for their great service whether it be for a few months or in some cases eight years. They have given great service to the club and leave us with some fantastic memories and I’m sure everyone would join me in wishing them all every success for the future”
