Alex Benjamin got back to scoring ways in the Northern League and claimed that his equaliser with the last kick of the game left a “good feeling” in the dressing room.

The 34-year-old felt that his side deserved “all three points” from the game with Sunderland RCA, but he hopes that the result can be the “catalyst” for a good run.

Benjamin said: “To be honest, RCA are a good team, but we showed the ability that we have got to match them, we have enough ability in our team to match anyone in the Northern League.

“I think we done well against Sunderland, they have been on a good unbeaten run as of late and it is always good to pick up points.

“I hope this can be the start of our season now, but then again we done this against Penrith and then had some bad results after that, we need to battle like we done today in every game.”

Marc Dummett produced the decisive ball that allowed the striker to have a chance of heading at goal, but Benjamin complimented the whole squad on their performance.

He added: “The lads have dug deep and gave everything that they had, we have managed to rescue a point at the end, but it should have been all three.

“Given the conditions, it was always going to be a hard game, conditions didn’t allow you to play football and luckily we got that chance at the very end there.

“I just want to add, the ball that Dummett put in was superb, he dribbled all the way from the back and under pressure at the end, he delivered.”

The striker, who is in his fourth spell with the Terriers now, expressed how big every game is for the rest of the season, with a big few weeks coming up for the club.

“Every game from now is a six-pointer for us really, we need to make sure that we stay in this league and to start climbing up the table,” Benjamin said.
