With Lewis Burns pulling up during the warm up, the Stan were forced to make a late change to the Team Sheet for the visit to bottom of the league club Stokesley this afternoon. There were 2 other changes including the return of Shaun Backhouse in goal.

Although on the front foot for most of the first half, a combination of poor passing and continually being caught offside meant that the visitors could not assert any authority against a side that had only picked up one league point so far this season. As expected the best chances of the game were created by the Stan and it was only due to 2 tremendous saves by Bowman in the home goal, from Wright and Telford, that the score-line remained goal-less at the interval.

A rare attack by the home side saw McGlade get the ball in the net 5 minutes into the second half, but the referee disallowed the effort for offside. 3 minutes later Heaton got the break their play deserved when Wright shot from just inside the penalty area to open the scoring. Wright was again involved in the second goal just 4 minutes later when his run was stopped out on the right with what the referee deemed to be a foul tackle. The resultant free-kick was crossed into the area by Telford where Scott rose to head strongly past Bowman. The visitors were well on top at this stage and although Bowman made several more good saves it was only a matter of time before he was beaten again. The next goal came on 63 minutes when a cross from Johnson, out on the left, was volleyed home by Telford to make it 3-0. The Stokesley defenders found it difficult to contain the surging runs of Wright and on 70 minutes he wriggled his way passed 3 of them to strike home his second of the game. With only a few minutes of the game remaining, Wright was pulled down in the penalty area by Sharples which left the referee no alternative but to award a penalty kick. Wright took the kick himself and completed his hat-trick with a powerful drive to make the final score 5-0.

Stan Team: Backhouse; Stoddart; Morrison (Carrasquillo); Wear; Scott, P; Bailey (Waite); Telford; Johnson, L (Imray); Wright; Hoggins; Ray. Subs unused: Dixon, G; Burns.
