Roofing skipper leaves club
Jarrow Roofing have announced that their club captain Dan Kirkup left the Club on Saturday night by mutual consent, bringing to an end his second spell with the club.
That second spell brought 107 appearances for the towering defender where he also scored 16 goals since returning in June 2013 from Hebburn Town.
Speaking of his departure, Kirkup said: “I’m genuinely gutted to be leaving Roofing.”
“I’ve loved every minute of my time at the club and it’s a shame that it’s now come to an end.
“It’s been a pleasure to be club captain and I’ve had plenty of great times during my spell at the club.
“Thanks to Richie and all of the staff and good luck to him and the lads for the rest of the season.
“I really do hope that everyone has a good season.”
On a sad day for everyone at the club, Richie McLoughlin acknowledged that and said: “In my eyes its a sad day for me as well – last season he was a rock for me and for this team. He was Mr Dependable.
“Dan Kirkup was a good club man in every way and he was always there for me and Jarrow Roofing.
“Dan leaving signals a totally sad day and it will take me, and all of us here, time to get over the big man leaving. Good luck, mate. Thanks for everything you’ve done for the club.”
Centre back Alex White has been announced as Kirkup’s replacement as skipper of the EBAC Northern League side
