West Allotment Trio Sign for Bedlington

By Andrew McDonnell

Bedlington Terriers have signed three highly rated players from fellow Northern League side West Allotment Celtic and all are “looking forward” to the new season.

Player of the year Liam Hudson, left-back Marc Dummett, brother of Newcastle United’s Paul Dummett, and John Pendlebury have all put pen to paper.

The latter, who only missed five of the clubs 53 games last season, is one to “rise to big occasions” and wants a good campaign in both the league and cups.

Pendlebury said: “The Northern League is a very tough league, and Bedlington have always been a massive club and it would be nice to push on as a group and play together.”

“I am looking forward to the season starting, I can’t wait to get into it all, and in all fairness I give a lift to the dressing room so hopefully I can do just that.”

Hudson, who wants to make the most of the opportunity with the club, said: “Hopefully I can bring a bit of success, at West Allotment we had a tight group of players and I am hoping we can replicate that at Bedlington this season.

“It’s a big opportunity for me, I’ve known Andy a while now, and with Paul Hogg joining too I thought it’d be a good place for me to go and enjoy my football.”

All three players were rated highly under former Allotment boss Paul Stoneman, and the arrival will certainly bring a lift to a team that won only one game all season from mid-December.

Dummett added: “I am hoping to settle in quite quickly, and then the group of lads from West Allotment can bond during pre-season and then kick on and have a good season.

“I am quite excited, Andy is a close friend of mine, and if we can get a good team spirit and a good bond then everyone will hopefully be pulling together and playing for each other.

“You always used to hear about Bedlington getting far in the cup competitions, so hopefully we can replicate that next season.”

The trio will be hoping to make their first appearance for the club in the pre-season friendly against Red House Farm on July 8, but Durham City will be their main focus on the first weekend of the season.
