Bedlington Terriers: Scott – Performance was ‘Criminal’ (Andrew McDonnell)

Scott  – Performance was “Criminal”

By Andrew McDonnell

Bedlington Terriers leading goal-scorer Lee Scott dubbed his sides’ performance against Celtic Nation as “criminal” and that they didn’t have the attitude and desire to go and win.

Scott, who has scored 20 goals this season, admitted that the team was very poor, and even though they have the ability, the side isn’t giving themselves “any chance” in games.

He said: “Some of the goals that we have been conceding is criminal, we keep going into the dressing room at the end of the game and it’s the same thing week-in week-out. It is our attitude and desire to go and win the game.

“Collectively we were very poor, we have got the ability, and we have technically good players, but we just aren’t giving ourselves any chance.

“All credit to Celtic Nation, they’ve been relegated, brought 16 players all the way from Carlisle and they have come and turned us over.”

The striker managed to get on the score sheet against the Cumbrian’s, but confessed that he would rather have got the three points “any day of the week” with the run the side is on.

Bedlington now face the challenge of facing high-flying title-chasing Shildon on Wednesday night, knowing that a win would mean the title would be taken from their opponents grasps.

He concluded: “Shildon have to come here to win the league and it adds a bit of emphasis to the game, it should be something that the lads want to play in, in front of a big crowd.”
