Gary Mills, manager of Conference club Gateshead, paid tribute to his players as they dug deep to register their fourth 1-1 draw in succession at Lincoln City’s Sincil Bank.
The Heed fell behind to Tom Anderson’s header early into the second-half, but restored parity only eight minutes later thanks to in-form forward Danny Wright.
And, although disappointed not to clinch the three points late on, Mills was delighted that his players found the means to combat a physical Lincoln side.
He said: “I’m proud of my players. We’ve gone behind again and we’ve come back again, so I think that keeps telling somebody something. It was a tough challenge tonight as Lincoln play very direct.
We like to go and squeeze the ball high, but at times it’s impossible to squeeze the ball here because they get it forward straight away.
“But what Lincoln do, they do well, so to get a point is a good result for us.”
